What is coaching?

Professional coaching is all about you. Coaching is a professional service and a collaborative partnership that helps coachees attain sustainable results in their personal and professional lives. Through the process of coaching, coachees become more self-aware, improve their effectiveness and enhance the quality of their experience. Coaching is a success tool that adds measurable value.

As a professional trusted to work with you on the most important aspects of your work as a leader, a coach offers:

  • objective perspective, focused on you
  • focus on present and future behaviours and outcomes (not the past)
  • honest, constructive, confidential feedback
  • guidance, through powerful questioning, to discover your own decisions rather than giving solutions/prescriptions
  • consistent, ongoing relationship to help implement new skills, changes and goals through practice
  • proven programs and processes to help you toward your goals

We specialize in working with clients and coachees committed to mastering leadership and communication competencies, and to achieving greater effectiveness, results and satisfaction in profession and life.

What is the coaching return on investment (ROI)?

A MetrixGlobal study1 on a Fortune 500 telecommunications firm found that executive coaching resulted in a 529 percent return on investment and significant intangible benefits for the organization.

A Corporate Leadership Council report2 found that executive coaching improves business performance by enhancing employee’s communication and leadership skills and can lead to reduced turnover.

A 2003 study by Hewitt Associates3  found that companies with stronger leadership practices outperformed their industry peers in long term measures of both financial growth and return. The same study found that 47 percent of the top companies made regular use of coaches for high potential employees, whereas only ten percent of other companies did the same.

Why does coaching work?

Coaching works better than traditional training for several reasons:

  • synergy between the coach and client creates momentum
  • better defined goals support a client to move toward those goals faster and with less effort
  • the clients develop new competencies which translate into more success and a balanced life
  • coaching relationships follow through with practice until clients have mastered new competencies

What commitment is required of coaching clients?

The most important prerequisites to coaching are an openness to being coached and a commitment to personal/professional development. Coachees entering a coaching relationship should expect to commit:

Time: Programs and coaching goals are as individual as the client, as such, work outside of the scheduled coaching sessions varies. Coachees may expect to spend a half to full day equivalent at the program outset, followed by approximately 1 – 3 hours per week including sessions and supplementary work. Programs may last 6 – 12 sessions (weeks) or more.

Effort: All change takes effort and, as a rule, the more effort applied, the greater the results. Internal change is, for some people, the most difficult to make. As a coach, we are not task masters; however we are your partners in success – our effort matches yours. We think this doubles your chances and speed toward success.

Cost: Our clients are leaders, individuals and organizations who see value in accelerating their leadership development, their ownor theri team's effectiveness, competencies or careers. Worldwide, hundreds of thousands of coaching clients have found coaching to be a sound, result-oriented investment. Individual coaching programs normally range from $300 - $1000 per month.
